Last month, our school, SMAN 1 Magetan had a special guest  and he was English teacher from Iki Senior high School, Iki island, Nagasaki prefecture, Japan. His name was Mr.  Isamu Nagayama. He graduated from Nagasaki University in 2000, belonged to The faculty of Education. He told us that he knew well and he was ever the same class with our teacher, Mr. Eko Adri Wahyudiono who got scholarship to study in Nagasaki University as well. They graduated at the same year, so that is why they were really close friends to each other. Sometimes, both of them spoke in English and Japanese language.

After having 8 hours direct flight from Narita-airport from Tokyo, Japan, he arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International airport in Jakarta, then  directly flying to Jogyakarta airport in Central  Java. The next day, he went by train to Solo city where he was picked up by Mr. Eko and Mr. Joni by car. They had interesting and amazing land trip through mountainous area and lake to reach Magetan town which is located in the border of East and Central Java

They discussed to each other in both English language and Japanese language. Even, some students got unforgettable moment when Mr. Nagayama Sensei introduced himself in front of the twelfth grade’s students. After finishing teaching English in his class, Mr. Nagayama went to Multimedia room as Seminar classroom and he  was greeted friendly by students of SMAN 1 Magetan with several songs, ‘Shiawase’ and ‘Tatte suwatte’ which had already been introduced by Elis sensei and Eko sensei before his coming.  Mr. Nagayama also donated a Japanese song with the tittle ‘Campai’ means ‘cheer up’ accompanied by guitar from Mr.Eko and himself . All of the students were amazed and impressed that Mr. Nagayama was able to play guitar well, and more than that, his voice was beautiful, he was really professional in playing guitar. It was really awesome. After enjoying the entertainment and reception of students of SMAN 1 Magetan, Mr. Nagayama directly gave presentation about Japan, started from the educational system, culture, tourist objects and other interesting things. In his presentation, Mr.Nagayama opened Asking time for the students. They seemed very excited and immediately asked a few questions to Mr. Nagayama. These questions were answered briefly, clearly and totally, so that students felt satisfied with  the answers given by him.

Then,  a very interesting and unexpected moment to SMA 1 Magetan students when Mr. Nagayama Sensei offered some souvenirs such as bookmarks and original stationery from Japan. The students were happy and they could not wait to get them, but the students who were able to answer his questions about the presentation material given by him would get that souvenir. Nevertheless,  all of the students got those souvenirs at the end of his presentation. Funny indeed… Mr. Nagayama was really smart teacher in making the students interest in his presentation. We were proud of him very much.

With the arrival of Mr. Nagayama Isamu to SMA 1 Magetan, We had a lot of knowledge that we could apply in our school, especially how to motivate ourselves in studying and learning harder than before. we expect there will be some changes for our education in the future. The most important thing is we will always keep our relationship between two countries, Japan and Indonesia in the future as well as the relationship among the teachers and the students to know closer to each other in introducing our languages both Indonesian and Japanese language, culture and some others. Even, Mr. Nagayama had time to play Indonesian Javanese traditional music instruments :Gamelan” with some students in school’s hall guided by Mr. Isdi Susilo, Art teacher of SMAN 1 Magetan. Mr. Nagayama was really fast learner in playing it. It was really unforgettable moment for the students.

Last but not least, Honestly , We are very sad to know that Mr. Nagayama should leave Indonesia, We always expect to Mr. Nagayama to come again to our school to teach us many things in the future.  Sayonara Sensei ! ,Arigatou Gozaimashitta..
